To restore hope among vulnerable children and communities that have been affected by period poverty.
We are a newly formed trustee that has been operational for nine months. Our organization was solely formed to help girls who cannot afford sanitary wear and end up substituting with materials that can be hazardous to their health. Our target is to reach remote parts of Zimbabwe but because of a lack of resources, we are focusing on areas within our reach. There is almost 75% of girls facing period challenges but because of lack of financial resources to purchase sanitary wear so that we distribute it, we end up giving it to children's homes where we see that the little we have can assist. Currently, when doing our giveaways, we use public transport to commute to areas where we will be making distributions which are within Harare.
Most of our problems have not been addressed yet. We circulate posters on which we will be asking for donations but the response is not what we will be expecting so we end up waiting for the month to end so that we use part of our salaries to purchase sanitary wear that we can and give it to those in need. We try day by day to circulate articles on Whatsapp and our Facebook accounts so that we draw the attention of well-wishers.
Currently, we are using funds from our own pockets especially to buy sanitary wear.
As of now, the only service we will be able to offer other organizations is partnering. We can help them implement programs that are similar to ours. Reaching out to the girl child, so that we provide sanitary wear, help them make one that is safe in times of difficulties, teach them about diseases that can arise because poor menstrual sanitation and others.
