Mission

Mission Statement The Mission of CAHEDKENYA is to advance dignity of poor and vulnerable community members for local sustainable solutions which aim at breaking the cycles of poverty. The organization aspire to empower at-risk youth and vulnerable persons in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their personal potential. Vision Statement CAHEDKENYA envisions a community in which every person’s experiences nurturing one-to-one relationships and community support, which in turn allows each of them to develop into their full potential, capable of making informed, responsible decisions as involved members of our community.

Current Challenges

Most of the orphans children more so girls face great challenges in terms of hygiene and sanitation during menstruating and in this COVID -19 pandemic , these problems compound the difficulties posed by the inability to afford sanitary towels as well Personal Preventive Equipment's (PPE) as as well as cultural taboos around menstruation and orphanhoods. As a result, many cildren and girl child miss on average four days of school every month which is 38 days in a year, meaning they fall behind in class and sometimes even drop out of school altogether. This is an added challenge with the current lock down of all insitutions in the country many girls fall prey to unwanted pregnancies and sexual abuses' to the already existing problems that lead to the high dropout rate of female pupils in primary and secondary schools. The main problems faced by orphans and girls are: • The expense of commercial sanitary pads; food supplement during this crisis time • Early pregnancies and early marriage • Unhygienic ways to dry menstrual materials; • Inadequate improvised personal protective equipment's • Orphans and vulnerable children reunifications • The lack of resources for washing such as soap; sanitizers, masks etc • Limited education about the facts of menstruation; and COVID19 information • Limited access to counseling and guidance; • Fear caused by cultural myths; and corona virus • Mental Health of families and children caused by lack of financial resources

What We Have Tried

The organization is trying through fundraising but we have not been lucky to get grant fundings for this specific projects , even though we are also working hand in hand with other stakeholders and government systems to subsidize of which is not enough , currently also building networking , collaboration and partnership with key interests stakeholders to the effect of reducing the alarming rate of children abuse and subsidizing on reusable mensural substances. We are also hear to request for bilateral grant from interested partners both local and international who can forge partnership of working together to this effect of the project challenges
